The prestigious 2022 Cannes Film Festival will kick off on 17 May and the Federation’s Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Youth and Sports, Anurag Thakur, will lead the Indian delegation to the event. He arrived in France a few hours ago and was greeted by the Indian Ambassador to France. The long awaited film festival will see many Indian celebrities grace the event with their presence.
Anurag Thakur arrives in France before Cannes 2022
Anurag Thakur’s office took to its official Instagram account to share a glimpse of the Union minister as he arrived in France for the ceremony. He was greeted by India’s Ambassador to France at the airport, and the two posed for photos that were uploaded to the internet.
The caption of the message read: “Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ianuragthakur has arrived in France, to lead the Indian delegation to the #75 Cannes Festival”.

Anurag Thakur previously spoke about 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and France and said it was a great honor for the UAE to be officially invited to this event. He said the goal is to present the country as a “content creator” to the world, which can be done by illustrating India’s fundamental strength in content.
He said, “India, which is known as the biggest filmmaker in the world, many entertainment makers will attend this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Our goal is to promote India as a content creator in the world. We will be showing the types of films at Cannes that will demonstrate India’s strength in content.
As one of India’s ‘Land of Honor’ highlights, a special screening of the restored Indian classic ‘Pratidwandi’, directed by Satyajit Rai, is scheduled as part of the Cannes Classics selection.

It was previously announced that Deepika Padukone will represent India as part of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival Jury. She will be joined by Nomi Rapas from Sweden, Jeff Nichols from the US, Jasmine Trinca from Italy, Joachim Trier from Norway and others.
Thakur will lead an Indian delegation of dignitaries including Shekhar Kapoor, R. Rahman, Prasun Joshi, R. Madhavan, Tamana Bhatia, Vani Tripathi, Pooja Hejd and folk artist Mami Khan at the red carpet event ahead of the screening of the opening film ‘Cut’ ( Final Cut) by Michael Hazanavicius.
