India adds new airport for e-visa holders

Travelers with e-visas can now arrive in India via Kannur International Airport.

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has just updated the list of air checkpoints for the entry of international visitors with electronic visa there added 29th airport.

From this Tuesday, 7th June, e-visa holders can arrive in India from Kannur International Airport (or Cannanore) in Keralaa region in southern India, whose airports are now included in the e-Visa system, namely:

  • Calicut International Airport (CCJ)
  • Cochin International Airport (COK)
  • Trivandrum International Airport (TRV)
  • Kannur International Airport (CNN)

“People from other countries, who have signed the agreement, can now travel to Kannur airport on electronic visas to enter India. They do not need to enter the regular immigration queue. They will walk through a separate immigration queue showing the e-visa,” said Subhash Murikenchery, the airport’s chief operating officer, in remarks compiled by the newspaper. Hindu.

What are the formalities for traveling to India?

French tourists must have Indian visa, issued by the Visa Center or on the internet by e-visa. Travelers, aged 5 years and over and vaccinated or not from France, must (always) give a negative result PCR test done 72 hours before boarding then upload this certificate in health declaration form to fill in government portal Air Suvidha. India has no longer imposed a quarantine on international arrivals since February 14, 2022.

Electronic visas currently allow citizens of 157 countries (including France, Belgium and Switzerland) to arrive in India from 29 airports and 5 seaports then stay there for 30 days or 90 days depending on the type of visa chosen. The issuance of 1-year and 5-year visas has resumed since March 2022.
