INDOSPORT.COM – Indonesia must be careful as there is a role for Danish badminton legend, Mathias Boe, who helped India qualify for the 2022 Thomas Cup final.

As we know, Mathias Boe is a former Danish men’s doubles badminton player as well as former rivals Kevin Sanjaya / Marcus Gideon. He decided to retire in April 2020.

After retiring, Mathias Boe tried his coaching career in January 2021 by joining the Men’s Doubles Coach of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) National Training Team.

Then, due to lack of age to bring Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty to win the Tokyo 2020 Olympics medal, Mathias Boe resigned from the ranks of Indian coaches.

However, in April 2022, more than a year after his resignation, Mathias Boe was again proposed by BAI to become the coach of the Indian national badminton training team, replacing Flandy Limpele.

Mathias Boe’s presence in the Indian coaching ranks seemed to bring fresh air as his side managed to create upset after upset in the 2022 Thomas Cup Men’s Tag Team Championship celebration.

After overthrowing a solid Malaysian team in the quarter-finals, it was Denmark’s turn to lose 3-2 to India in the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup which took place on Friday (13/05/ 22).

The result went down in history as India reached the final of the 2022 Thomas Cup Men’s Tag Team Championship for the first time.

India will be challenged by defending champions Indonesia in the final on Sunday (5/15/22) at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Indonesia itself ranked as the most successful country with 14 titles during the Thomas Cup celebration. However, the presence of Mathias Boe was enough to make Indonesia nervous.
