Athletics and shooting are the sports that are contributing the most to India at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
More than 100 Indian athletes will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Indian athletes will compete in 16 sports to win top honours. Only a few young athletes will make their debut at the Olympics this time.
Among the 16 sports, the largest number of representatives is in athletics. There are 29 in athletics and 21 in shooting. There are four sports with only one representative from this country.
This time, the sports of judo, rowing, weightlifting and equestrian are still underrepresented in India. Tulika Maan is the only Indian athlete competing in judo and the same is true for Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting.
Meanwhile, in equestrian, only Anush Agarwalla has qualified and Balraj Panwar will be the only Indian rower at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Overall, India has increased its number of participants at the Olympics. However, this has proven insufficient given the size of the population.
Athletes qualified through rankings, continental quotas, entry standards and universality places. Swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu were the only athletes to qualify through the universality site.

Desinghu will be the country's youngest athlete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 14-year-old will compete in the women's 200m freestyle event. On the other hand, Rohan Bopanna will be the country's oldest athlete in Paris.
The 44-year-old will compete in the doubles tennis match with Sriram Balaji. India is hoping to break the record for the number of medals this time. Few athletes want to win their second medal at the Olympics.
PV Sindhu remains the only athlete eyeing a third consecutive Olympic medal. A gold medal is still elusive for him. He could become the first Indian to win three individual Olympic medals.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will begin on July 26 and continue till August 11. Indian athletes have been travelling abroad to prepare their minds and bodies for Paris.
This time, the chances look bright for Indian fans as they will see their idols perform almost every day of the Olympics. The schedule is full of promises and hopes.
