This exhibition traces the arrival of cinema in India, its inspiration in the Indian tradition of fairy tales, performance, mythology and storytelling, its rise as a unifying tool after British colonialism, to the current Bollywood “superstar” system.
Under the microphone Louise Morin, co-curator of the exhibition and head of the Asian heritage unit at the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, Julien Rousseau, talks to us about the multimedia dimension of Indian cinema, which integrates dance, music, theater…
