Manjhi: Empowering the poor is the most important goal of SME work

Jitan Ram Manjhi assumed office as Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in New Delhi today. At his inauguration, Manjhi said he was happy about the appointment and would work towards improving the situation of the poor.

“First of all, I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have believed since childhood that work is worship and no job in the world is small. I am very happy that I have been given the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises,” Manjhi said.

“I am very encouraged by the Prime Minister's vision for the ministry. After the allocation of posts, the Prime Minister informed me that he has entrusted me with the portfolio of his vision. He said his vision is to help the poor and bring the benefits of growth to places which have remained untouched. He said a lot can be achieved through this ministry. I am fortunate that Prime Minister Modi found me capable of heading the ministry. Prime Minister Modi knows the needs of every corner of the country and takes initiative accordingly. I will look after the Prime Minister's vision of empowering the poor. It is my good fortune that an experienced politician like Sobha Karandlaje has joined the ministry as the Minister for Education. We will strive to lead the ministry to glory and honour,” added Manjhi.
