From Rohit Sharma to Sachin Tendulkar: Sports stars invited to Ram Temple inauguration | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Legendary Sachin TendulkarTwo-time World Cup captain MS Dhoni, current captain of India Rohit Sharma and chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand are among a host of sportspersons invited to the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya next week.
Former Indian Captains Virat KohliSourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble are also on the list of cricketers invited to the event.
The 500-plus state guest list for the ceremony includes a mix of politicians, actors, sports stars and industrialists.
Weightlifter Karnam Malleswari, footballer Kalyan Chaube, distance runner Kavita Raut Tungar and Paralympic javelin thrower Devendra Jhanjadia have also received invites, as have cricket captain Mitali Raj, shuttlers Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu and their coach Pullela Gopichand.
Apart from Sachin, World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, the “little master” Sunil Gavaskar, Virendra Sehwag, Ravindra Jadeja and current head coach Rahul Dravid are also on the list.

In addition to chess legend Anand, sprint queen PT Usha and footballer Bhaichung Bhutia were also invited.
However, it is not clear how many of them will actually attend the opening of the 161-foot-tall pink sandstone shrine.
