In a career spanning over 20 years, Faiz Fazal played 138 first-class matches for Vidarbha and scored 9,184 runs at an average of 41.
Former Indian batsman Faiz Fazal, a domestic giant, recently retired from professional cricket after Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy match against Haryana. During his illustrious career, the veteran got to play only one ODI match for the national team, where he also scored a fifty against Zimbabwe in 2016, but he never got the chance to replay.
In an interview, Faiz revealed that he was injured and disappointed that he did not get more opportunities to play for the national team.
“I am a very emotional person. Little things hurt me or little things make me very happy. Winning the Indian cap was the proudest moment for me and the entire family. This is the biggest peak. “You can look back and say, 'oh, it was just one game', but apart from that I was the only guy in that team who never played in the IPL,” said Fazal to ESPNCricinfo.
“So I took this opportunity to reward my hard work at home. Do I feel disappointed and hurt because I didn't get another chance? One hundred percent. Does this affect me? Absolutely yes. But then you realize how lucky you are,” he added.
However, the highlight of his career was winning two consecutive Ranji Trophy titles and he captained the team twice.
