Gautam Adani, family pledges ₹60,000 cr to social causes
Billionaire Gautam Adani and his family have pledged a donation of ₹60,000 crore to a range of social causes to mark the business tycoon’s 60th birthday on June 24. The fund, managed by the Adani Foundation, is used for healthcare, education, and skills development.
“To realize the potential of India’s demographic advantage, there needs to be an increasing focus on healthcare, education and skills development. The deficits in each of these areas are roadblocks to an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,'” the Adani group said in a press release.
According to the press release, the Adani Foundation has accumulated extensive experience working with communities focused on integrated development efforts in all of these areas. Tackling these challenges can significantly improve the competence and competitiveness of our future workforce, she added.
“This year is not only the 100th birthday of my inspirational father but also the year of my 60th birthday and as such the family has decided to contribute 60,000 crore to charitable activities in healthcare, education and especially skills development in the rural regions of our Landes,” says Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.
