Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne at Orly near Paris. Modi is the guest of honor at the July 14 military parade, France’s national holiday.
France and India maintain a strategic partnership, although India has not condemned Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
Paris and New Delhi are currently negotiating India’s purchase of 26 Rafale fighter jets and military submarines, France being India’s second largest arms supplier after Russia.
Narendra Modi also wanted to meet the Indian community in exile in Paris.
