For your information, the 2022 Commonwealth Games themselves are a multinational sporting event held every four years, involving the best athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 29 to August 8, 2022 and will be held in Birmingham, England.

Rexy Mainaky, as National Doubles Development Manager, showed his confidence in the Malaysian badminton team.

Namely to say that Malaysia can compete with India in all areas and see women’s singles PV Sindhu as the only player who is a stumbling block.

Malaysia, who are the second seed, are in Group 4 with South Africa, Jamaica and Zambia. While top-seeded India are in Group 1 with Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Malaysia also avoided Singapore in the preliminary round as their rivals are in Group 2 with the third seed along with England, Mauritius and Barbados. Group 3 includes the third seed with Canada, Scotland, Maldives and Uganda.

Two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. India and Malaysia, who were expected to top their respective groups, will be separated in the draw and will once again take part in the final.

Thus, according to Rexy Mainaky, this opens up an opportunity for Malaysia to challenge India for the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
