Overground communications to several districts in Arunachal Pradesh have been disrupted by landslides triggered by rain, officials said on Monday. Landslides buried one person in Shi-Yomi district on Friday, according to a report by the state disaster management agency. Four people have died in the state due to natural disasters since April.
“The Tezu-Hayuliang road remains closed in Mompani area of Lohit and Anjaw districts, while landslides blocked the Dari-Chambang and Palin-Taraklengdi PMGSY roads via Langdang village in Kra Daadi district,” they said. According to a report, the NH 513 at Geying in East Siang district also remained closed.

Since April this year, more than 72,900 people and 257 villages in Arunachal have been affected by floods and landslides.

The state capital Itanagar has been suffering from a severe water crisis for the past few days due to damage to the pipelines. “Though restoration is underway, it will take several days,” officials said.
Damin, Parsi Parlo and Panyasang sub-districts in Kurung Kumey district are reportedly cut off from the rest of the state after incessant rains this week triggered severe flash floods and landslides. Several blockades were reported on the road to Damin via Parsi Parlo.
A massive landslide occurred at the Karsingsa checkpoint along the crucial NH-415 connecting Itanagar to Banderdewa, forcing the administration of the capital city of Itanagar to close the road to protect commuters.
After a thorough inspection of the site by Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, it was decided to close the road and divert all traffic via Gumto.
