Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, today said the world is watching India's rise amid geopolitical tensions and uncertainties straining global relations. Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of Adani Enterprises, Mr. Adani said India is now the driving force for stability, cooperation and progress in a complex world.
“India is no longer at a crossroads of destiny. We are on the threshold of our greatest growth phase,” Gautam Adani told shareholders, stressing India's central role in global geopolitical changes.
“Amid this uncertainty, the world is witnessing the rise of India. This is India's hour. And it is India's macroeconomic stability and its ambitious growth plans that inspire our confidence,” added the Adani Group Chairman.
He said the government had rightly focused on infrastructure development by increasing its funding for this fiscal year by 16 percent to over Rs 11 billion.
“The Union government's strong focus on infrastructure development, with funding of over Rs 11 trillion in this fiscal, reflects our national resolve,” Mr Adani noted, pointing to a tripling of annual spending over the past five years.
The 62-year-old praised the central role of state governments in implementing infrastructure projects, citing first-hand experience in 24 Indian states. “Our record-breaking achievements in 2023 demonstrate our alignment with national priorities and our unparalleled expertise in implementing major projects,” he said.
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) is managing the world's largest renewable energy project in Khavda, Gujarat. “This initiative is spread over several hundred square kilometers and aims to generate 30,000 MW of clean energy within five years,” said Mr. Adani, noting that the project could power entire nations.
In Mumbai, Adani outlined plans for the comprehensive redevelopment of Dharavi, the world's largest slum. “This ambitious project not only promises a dignified life for over a million residents, but also fosters a hub of sustainable innovation in Mumbai,” he said.
