Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the good governance reforms undertaken over the last decade will further strengthen citizen-centricity and ensure a more comfortable life for all citizens.

Taking office as Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions at his office in North Block, he said the third term of the NDA government will be a continuation of the work of the last decade under the previous two terms of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The last decade has seen a series of revolutionary government reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, essentially inspired by the spirit of 'minimal state, maximum governance' and greater citizen-centricity to provide a more comfortable life for all citizens of the country,” Singh told reporters after taking charge as minister.

He later told PTI that many pro-people measures have been taken in the last decade and these would be accelerated during the ongoing third term of the Modi government.

“The government is determined to take further citizen-friendly measures aimed at increasing citizen-orientation and ensuring a comfortable life for all,” he said.

The doctor-turned-politician served as minister for state security, personnel, public grievances and pensions, and in the Prime Minister's Office, among other positions, and was part of the Union Council of Ministers during Modi's first and second terms as prime minister.

Born in Jammu, 67-year-old Singh was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers as MoS in the PMO in 2014 when he was a first-time member of the Lok Sabha from Udhampur constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.
