There are several beaches in the small union territory of Diu. Fort of Diu

Diu Fort, built in the 16th century by the Sultan of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah, and the Portuguese to protect against Humayun, the Mughal conquerors, at the eastern tip of the island, is also at the water’s edge. The Sultan of Gujarat first made an alliance with the Portuguese. But it was only two years later (from 1537 to 1546) that he tried to reconquer the island.
