Reported from TheThaiger.com, Shopeee Thailand will cut about 10% of its employees, or about 100 employees. In the near future, Shopee has undergone numerous restructurings, from service closures to layoffs.
It started when Shopee closed its operations in Argentina, India and France. After that, in the second quarter of 2022, Shopee made massive layoffs in the Southeast Asia region for the Shopee Food and ShopeePay divisions.
Not so long ago, Shopee shut down its services in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina. After that, Shopee cut 10% of workers in China and 3% in Indonesia a few weeks ago.
Based on existing reports, Shopee announced a new restructuring plan at the public meeting or City hall on Monday (26/9/2022). Management announced that it would try to streamline the business and improve operational efficiency to make Shopee more agile and able to develop long-term growth.
At the town hall, management said there will be new operational measures that will affect some Thai employees. Staff will be reduced by less than 10% in response to the difficult economic situation.
Shopee has embarked on a major restructuring, including plans to lay off more Shopee Thailand employees. About 10% of jobs will be cut, and this is expected to affect 100 employees.
