In October 2021, staff and students at Felpham Community College in West Sussex planted more than 4,000 crocuses provided by the Rotary Club of Bognor Regis as part of Rotary International’s annual Purple4Polio campaign in the UK and Ireland. . In February, when the flowers begin to bloom, the school gathers students from the neighborhood club and other school groups for a tea party. “This is an opportunity to enjoy hot drinks and homemade cakes, to celebrate the blooming of the crocuses and to thank our students for their efforts beyond their school activities”, explains Michelle Kelly, deputy director of the school. The Bognor Regis club and school have been partners in this action for more than 10 years.

Seven Rotary clubs and two Rotaract clubs in Delta State, southern Nigeria, were mobilized in October 2021 to raise awareness in their country, which was certified polio-free the previous year. The march against poliomyelitis, organized by the Rotary club of Effurun, attracted nearly 100 participants. The protesters — many wearing red, blue, yellow and purple shirts (End Polio campaign colors) — walked nearly 3 km while sympathizing with each other to the sound of drums and trumpets,” said Michael Enehizena, former president of club Effurun. “It was a huge success, because flyers and stickers were distributed and put on the car,” added Michael. Rotary clubs from Effurun City Centre, Effurun Gateway, Effurun GRA, Ekpan, Osubi and Ovwian, as well as Rotaract clubs from Effurun and the Petroleum Training Institute have come together for the event.
