WMO Information Services (WIS) 2.0 Training Workshop, BMKG Collaboration with WMO increases efficiency of meteorological data exchange

Jakarta, October 9, 2023 – World Meteorological Organization (WMO) collaborates with the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) to organize it WMO Information Services (WIS) 2.0 Training Workshop. The activity was carried out as a form of renewal of the global meteorological data exchange system.
The workshop, which took place from October 9 to 13, aimed to introduce WIS 2.0, a system that makes the exchange of weather information and data at national, regional and international levels more accurate and efficient. WMO also offers in-depth training on how WIS 2.0 will change the approach to work, using the latest technologies to provide better services to the community.
In his speech, Deputy for Instrumentation, Calibration, Engineering and Communication Networks Muhammad Sadly highlighted three important points that we need to pay attention to, namely the continued use of WIS 2.0 to address climate change, data security which is the main priority and increase the capacity of WIS operations by continuing the implementation of executive and professional development.
The WIS 2.0 training workshop brought together 24 participants from various countries, starting from Australia, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and the Republic of India. Korea, Micronesia, India, Timor-Leste, Brazil, Oman, Brunei Darussalam and WMO Regional Office. In addition, WMO sent Enrico Fucille, Hassan Haddouch, Maike Limpert and Xiao Xia Chen as experts who will provide training on the operation of WIS 2.0.
WIS 2.0 event Training workshops It is hoped that it will provide increased capabilities to the participants and can be implemented effectively in their respective countries. Through the application of the latest technologies, WIS 2.0 is able to bring substantial improvements to weather and hydrological services that can have a positive impact on people’s daily lives.
