Washington, Gizmology – Since its launch, Windows 11 has been committed to providing support for the Android operating system. This commitment is materialized by the presence of WSA.
Yes, WSA stands for Windows Subsystem for Android which was created to bring these two different operating systems together to work together on various integrations. If you are a Windows 11 user, you must be familiar with this operating system’s ability to run Android-based apps, right?
Well, now Microsoft has quietly released an update roadmap for WSA confirming active support for Android 13. This was revealed by a GitHub leak that was cited gizmology of Last windowsSunday (23/10/2023).
It is not disclosed what will be the latest WSA support for Android 13. However, it is expected that there will be features that will make file and data transfers faster through PCs and mobile phones or vice versa, as easy as drag and drop.
One feature whose presence can be confirmed is the shortcut. Moreover, there is also a Picture-in-Picture mode which allows users to run Android apps in a small container displayed on Windows.
Microsoft also previously planned to enable LAN access by default. However, it’s unclear when this feature will arrive in Windows 11, at least as early as 2023.
Latest Windows 11 support remains limited
As known, WSA currently supports features such as audi codecs, front and rear cameras, ClearKey DRM or MPEG-DASH content, CTS/VTS, Bluetooth direct access, Ethernet, gamepad and several other features such as:
- Location + GPS
- Microphone
- Multi-monitor/secondary display
- To print
- Software DRM (Widevine L3 support)
- Touch/Multitouch
- Some video decoders and encoders
- Web View
- Wireless
- Window orientation
The latest WSA was released last month with several new features such as improved networking, better gaming performance, additional GamePad controls improvements, better mouse and keyboard input support , as well as better integration with existing Android features.

However, when the WSA preview launched, only Windows 11 users in the United States could try out the better integration. However, it has now reached several new countries, including more than 20 new territories in Europe.
For those of you who want to check or update the WSA, you can go directly to Microsoft Store > Library > Check for updates. However, it should be noted that a global launch including Asian countries cannot be expected, of which Indonesia is one of them.
