With the Paris 2024 Olympics just around the corner, India’s sporting world is on a roll. The country has invested financially and supported its athletes, aiming to succeed on the global stage.
Indian athletes heading to Paris have trained hard and competed at the international level. This preparation is thanks to programmes like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) run by the Sports Authority of India. Public and private companies are also helping out.
So far, India has spent Rs 470 crore on the 16 sports for which its athletes have qualified. From archery to wrestling, each sport is given special attention. The athletes have attended training camps at home and travelled abroad to gain experience.
The Indian team also includes new faces in less mainstream sports. For example, Anush Agarwalla will compete in equestrian dressage, while Tulika Maan will represent India in judo.

#10 Judo: 6.33 million
Tulika Maan is the only Indian judoka qualified for Paris 2024 in the 78 kg category. In preparation for the Olympics, a total of 6 national camps and 15 overseas trips have been supported. This support aims to develop 9 TOPS development judoka with Tulika Maan.
#9 Table Tennis: 12.92 crores
For the Paris cycle, a total of 7 national camps and 173 exhibition trips abroad were offered. This support is planned for 7 TOPS basic rowers and 5 development rowers.
#8 Weightlifting: 27 crores
Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu will be the only Indian medal contender in the 49kg weightlifting category. For the Paris Olympics 2024, the Government of India is supporting a total of 9 international competitions and 9 national camps. This support includes 2 TOPS grassroots athletes and 6 development athletes.
#7 Wrestling: 37.80 crore
For the Paris cycle, a total of 19 national camps and 66 overseas exhibition trips are supported. This support is provided to TOPS's 10 core wrestlers and 15 development wrestlers.
#6 Archery: 39.18 crores
During the Paris Olympic cycle between 2021 and 2024, the Government of India supported a total of 41 national camps and 24 overseas archer tours, including 5 TOPS grassroots archers and 13 development archers.
Hockey No. 5: 41.30 crores
The Indian hockey team returned with a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020, ending a 41-year wait to reach the podium. A total of 76 national camps and 36 global experience trips abroad are being supported by the Government of India for Paris 2024, including 33 key players from TOPS.
Filming #4: 60.42 crores
With 21 shooters set to compete at Paris 2024, the Indian government has opened its coffers to provide extraordinary financial support to prepare for the quadrennial event. During these preparations, the government has supported 96 overseas trips and 45 national camps. Summer Olympics which include 25 TOPS grassroots shooters and 20 development shooters.
#3 Boxing: 60.93 crores
Supported 17 national camps and 23 overseas exposure trips in preparation for the Paris Olympics, for a total of 9 TOPS grassroots boxers and 20 development boxers.
#2 Badminton: 72.03 million
A total of 13 national camps and 81 overseas exhibition trips are supported in Paris. There are 10 TOPS core members and 15 development members who participated in the mission.
#1 Athletics: 96.08 crores
A 28-member athletics team will represent India at the Paris Olympics. In total, with the support of the Government of India, 36 national camps and 85 overseas trips were conducted for 23 grassroots athletes and 13 developing athletics athletes at TOPS.
