After the Supreme Court ordered elections to be held on December 21, the ministry immediately suspended the WFI and demanded that the Indian Olympic Association set up an ad hoc committee to oversee sports in India.
The three-member ad hoc committee headed by the IOA is expected to be disbanded soon, leaving Sanjay Singh's panel to take control of the WFI operations. It turned out that the ministry did not want to wait to lift the suspension until the trial which was scheduled to end on March 10 and 11 at the IG Stadium.
