Cyberthreat.id – Online courier service from China, WeChatdecided to temporarily not operate in India after the local government placed the service on a blocklist of 59 apps as of June 29.
According to India todayaccessed Tuesday (July 28, 2020), users WeChat in India, started disconnecting from the app last weekend after the company sent a notification.
The notification read: “As per Indian law, we are unable to provide WeChat to you right now,” the company wrote.
“We value each of our users, data security and privacy are of the utmost importance to us. “We are in discussions with the relevant authorities and hope to resume services at a later date,” the company said.
In the notification, WeChat did not explain how long the moratorium would last. Meanwhile, UC Browser, a Chinese browser also blocked in India, is still unsure whether it will shut down or not.
