On February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine. Since then, a fierce war has raged, resulting in death and destruction. Putin's plan to take over Ukraine in one day has failed miserably. Now Vladimir Putin has apparently devised a new plan to defeat Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin wants to develop new sea routes between Russia and India
As is happening in England at the moment “Fast” According to reports, the Russian president is apparently seeking a new 9,000-kilometer maritime corridor that would allow him to increase access to Asian markets and bypass restrictions imposed on Russian companies since its invasion of Ukraine.
After meeting Putin in Moscow, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his commitment to building a new sea route between Russia and India. The proposed route, called the Chennai-Vladivostok Maritime Corridor, would stretch thousands of kilometers and could connect the ports of Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Vostochny and Olga.
This is what Putin expects from the 9,000-kilometer maritime corridor.
The corridor will not only strengthen the alliance between Russia and India, but will also allow the two countries to bypass the disruptions in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Currently, transportation between India and Russia via West Asia takes about 40 days, while the new route is expected to reduce travel time by 40 percent to 24 days, according to the Express. The Indian government also hopes that the corridor will reduce the distance between the two countries, it said.

New sea route saves time and money
There are 8,675 nautical miles (equivalent to about 16,066 kilometers) between the ports of Mumbai and St. Petersburg. The Chennai-Vladivostok corridor will shorten the distance to 5,647 nautical miles (equivalent to about 10,500 kilometers) – a reduction that will help Russia and India limit logistics costs and save fuel.
Russia-India deal brings coal, oil, liquefied natural gas and other goods to Putin
Moscow and New Delhi signed a memorandum of understanding in 2019 setting out the main objectives of the new route. These include, among other things, creating a faster route for coal, oil, liquefied natural gas and other goods. Things Putin could use in the Ukraine war. India’s Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said the Chennai-Vladivostok maritime corridor would “significantly reduce logistics costs and increase the efficiency of freight movement between the two countries.”
The only bad news for Vladimir Putin: the creation of the sea corridor could take several months. Time that Putin does not have due to recent setbacks.
