Silver rupee old Rp. 20 thousand denomination viral discussed in India after the declaration of the head of the government of the capital region of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mobi to print pictures of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on rupee banknotes.
In his statement, Kejriwal mentioned the name of Indonesia as a Muslim-majority country, but wanted to place a picture of Ganesha on the banknotes.
“Indonesia, which is a Muslim-majority country, prints banknotes with the image of Lord Ganesha,” he said, as quoted by detik.com on Tuesday (1/11).
He then compared Indonesia to India, where there should be no protests. “If Indonesia can do it, why can’t we? No one should object to it,” he explained.
Because, according to Kejriwal, the gods and goddesses will bring economic prosperity to India. “Our efforts will only bear fruit when we have God’s blessing upon us,” he said.
He requested that new banknotes that could be printed feature Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh. He believes Goddess Lakshmi will bring prosperity and Lord Ganesh will remove obstacles.
The statement actually drew ridicule from political parties around the world. The Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which controls Gujarat, believes Kejriwal’s declaration as leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is an attempt to hide which is in fact anti-Hindu.
“Arvind Kejriwal staged a political drama to distract the people of the country from the weakness of his government with an anti-Hindu mindset,” BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said.
On social media, even many netizens accuse the AAP of hypocrisy saying that the ruling party promises to overhaul the political system and focus on development.
