Heroes of voyages around the world, we love Les Sables-d’Olonne.
Since 1989, the city has been accustomed to highlighting the sailors of the Vendée Globe.
Today, the Golden Globe Race has been added to the resort’s nautical calendar. This solo tour, without stopping, without assistance and without modern means of communication takes place.
I love this race. It has an extraordinary density, it is unique, it is a compliment to slowness and humility.
This afternoon there was a crowd at the Place du Jardin du Tribunal to welcome the GGR participants. They are almost all there.
The atmosphere heated up when the three “finishers” climbed onto the podium.

Survive Abhilash

The award ceremony took place in the presence of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world in 1968, Jean-Luc Van den Heede winner of the 2019 GGR.
