US-India Business Council meeting discusses steps to strengthen defense ties

USIBC hosted an engaging roundtable for members on steps to strengthen the US-India defense partnership.

The US-India Business Council held a roundtable discussion with Secretary of Defense Science Advisor Satheesh Reddy and Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) MZ Siddique on steps to strengthen the US-India Defense Partnership.

During Wednesday’s meeting, dignitaries, including USIBC President Atul Keshap and US Chamber of Commerce Defense and Aerospace Council (DAC) President Keith Webster, discussed how greater engagement with global defense contractors can support India’s role as a key defense partner of the United States and a network security provider in the Indo-Pacific.

“The USIBC hosted an engaging members’ roundtable with Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to the Minister of Defense of India, Dr. MZ Siddique, the Director General (Naval Systems and Materials), Ambassador Atul Keshap and Keith Webster on steps to strengthen the US-India defense partnership,” USIBC stated on its official Twitter handle.

It continued, “Participants discussed how increased engagement with global defense contractors can support India’s role as a key US defense partner and cybersecurity provider in the #Indo-Pacific.”

On January 31, USIBC received National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan ahead of the first launch of the US-India Critical and Emerging Technologies Initiative (iCET).

In a roundtable discussion organized by USIBC, NSA Ajit Doval and India’s Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu highlighted India’s remarkable ability to develop and absorb technology, the US Chamber of Commerce said in a statement.

They emphasized India’s use of technology not only as an enabler for economic growth but also as a tool for social inclusion.

According to the statement released by the US Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Doval and Mr. Sandhu emphasized India’s growing role as a trusted supply chain partner and contributor in the global technology value chain.

They stressed the importance of easing export control measures to facilitate technology access, co-production and joint development between India and the US.
