The new generation of Toyota Innovation which is in preparation in India will have a new name namely Hycross. This name is called automotive media India is patented there.
What’s new about the latest Innova isn’t just the name. Innova Hycross would also have a front-wheel-drive system, hybrid technology, and no diesel engine options.
Different from the current Innova which is designed from the chassis ladder frame IMVs such as the Fortuner and Hilux, Innova Hycross are believed to be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) C. The wheelbase is said to be around 2.85 meters, which is 10cm longer than the Innovation.
The new platform is believed to make the Innova Hycross lighter than before and the cabin space is wider. While the exterior design features may be similar to Veloz which was sold in Indonesia.
TNGA-C is also said to change the motion system of the Innova Hycross to both front wheels.
As for the engine, it is said to use a 2000cc strong hybrid petrol with Toyota Hybrid System II technology with two electric motors. There is no diesel engine option, which is possible because the work of the electric motor is considered sufficient to satisfy the torque desire of the diesel engine.
Innova HyCross will be Toyota’s follow-up product in India after the launch of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder last month. Innova HyCross is expected to launch late this year or early 2023.
The Innova Hycross will be sold alongside the Innova in India.
