Toyota Kirloskar Motor is temporarily stopping shipments of three models in India, namely Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Hilux, due to “irregularities” in diesel powertrain certification tests. On Monday, Toyota Industries Corporation, a company affiliated with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), announced that irregularities were found in performance certification tests of three diesel engine models.
In India, such types of engines are used in Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Hilux.

The company said the issue had no impact on the emissions or safety of affected vehicles.
“Toyota is working with relevant authorities to reconfirm the data used to certify the affected vehicles. Therefore, in the case of TKM, the shipment of affected vehicles will also be temporarily suspended,” the automaker noted.
However, TKM will continue to accept new orders for the three models, it said. For cars that have already been shipped but not yet delivered to the customer, the company said the company will carefully explain this condition to customers.
“Thereafter, we will proceed with registration and delivery for customers who choose to receive their vehicles,” it added.
It continues: “We would like to reassure our existing customers by informing them that we assume that their vehicles are not affected by these irregularities, as this does not result in any deviations in power, torque or other values the drivetrain.” Furthermore, this did not affect the emissions or the safety of their vehicles, said TKM.
“TKM nevertheless sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience and concern this irregularity may cause to our customers and other stakeholders,” it said.
