Jakarta (ANTARA) – The sports competition schedule on Thursday (11/1) was marked by the struggles of a number of Indonesian athletes from various sports who began to go further in the tournament they were currently participating in, including badminton player Anthony. Sinisuka Ginting and tennis player Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi.
In badminton, Indonesian men's singles Ginting will participate in the round of 16 of the 2024 Malaysia Open after successfully defeating Taiwanese men's singles Su Li Yang in the round of 16 on Tuesday (9/1). Ginting will face Chinese badminton player Lu Guang Zu on Thursday.
Besides Ginting, Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in women's singles will also fight in the round of 16 after coming through a hot match to beat Japanese badminton player Natsuki Nidaira on Wednesday (10/1). Next, Gregoria will be challenged by Malaysian badminton player Goh Jin Wei.
The round of 16 of the Malaysia Open 2024, which took place on Thursday at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, also featured Indonesian men's doubles Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, as well as the mixed doubles Rehan Naufal/Lisa Ayu. Kusumawati and Dejan Ferdianansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

In tennis, two Indonesian athletes, Rifqi and Beatrice Gumulya, will compete in the quarter-finals of two different ITF events. Rifqi, who failed in singles, is still struggling in the doubles sector of ITF M25 Mandya, India. Meanwhile, Beatrice, who previously beat compatriot Jessy Rompies, competed at the ITF W50 Nonthaburi, Thailand.
Coming from Indonesia, the 2024 Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship to be held at Senayan Shooting Range, Jakarta, schedules a number of game events including Men's 50m Rifle, 25m Pistol women's and the men's 25m rapid fire pistol.
From abroad, the English league football match pits Liverpool against Fullham. In tennis, the Australian Open warm-up tournament, Adelaide International, is still underway with world number three Elena Rybakina and world number five Jessica Pegula securing places in the quarter-finals.
