Summer is hot in most parts of the world. The thermometer has reached extreme values in recent weeks, up to 50 degrees in Tunisia or even over 45 degrees in southern Italy and Spain. The United Nations World Meteorological Organization claims that July 2023 is the hottest month ever measured on earth. India is more used to this kind of hot weather, but in recent years it has become more frequent and earlier. Cities were forced to adapt, following the example of Ahmedabad, which acted as a pioneer. After dealing with an extreme heatwave in 2010, authorities envisioned a heat-fighting action plan that included a color-coded warning system.
