A defining week for the Indian Olympic movement. The National Olympic Committee (IOA) will meet in an extraordinary general assembly on Thursday, November 10, to ratify an amended version of its constitution. Prepared by a former judge, Judge L. Nageswara Rao, brought about certain changes considered to determine the future of the body, including better representation of athletes and women. Comments from Nita Ambani (pictured above), IOC India member: “I believe that this new law paves the way for India to realize its true potential in sport. I look forward to working with the newly elected IOA members to nurture India’s Olympic ambitions, starting with hosting the 2023 IOC Session in Mumbai and India’s Home at the Olympics..” Next steps: holding of the National Olympic Committee elections, long overdue, postponement of the origins of the suspension of the body by the IOC. This election must take place at the end of the month, before the next meeting of the IOC Executive Board, from 5 to 7 December in Lausanne. As a reminder, the suspension of the Indian Olympic Committee led to the postponement of the IOC session in Mumbai. Originally scheduled for spring 2023, it has been postponed to September or October.
