Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi recalled the historical values and the commitment to move the country forward towards an inclusive digital era, during a ceremony commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Ministry of Communication and Information Building, Jakarta on Thursday.
The Minister of Communication and Information, during the ceremony streamed online, stressed the importance of effective communication as a means of uniting the nation, just as the heroes achieved independence through a spirit of unity and passionate struggle.
“The lessons of our nation’s history are very clear. Persistence in achieving unity coupled with effective communication is the power to change the nation. Freedom fighters have proven that it is not impossible for various Indonesian peoples to move towards the same goal,” said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie.

Budi Arie assesses the commitment of the government under the leadership of President Joko Widodo to build an equitable telecommunications infrastructure in line with the spirit of heroes in the achievement of independence. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, he said, continues to be committed to bridging the gap and ensuring equal access to information across Indonesia.
The ministry is determined to spearhead the development of digital infrastructure and ecosystems that are equitably distributed throughout the territory, like the heroes who took bold steps towards independence.
“We also need to make sure we take steps towards a sovereign and inclusive digital space for all,” Budi Arie said.
Budi Arie said the Ministry of Communication and Information plays an important role in ensuring that the people of Indonesia can maximize the benefits of technological developments that continue to advance.

According to a study by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), four out of five countries expected to become global economic powers in the future will come from Asia, including Indonesia, China, India and Japan. This economic growth is also driven by advances in digital technology which can boost the economy by up to 6%, as found in a study by the National Development Planning Agency.
It is estimated that the contribution of the digital economy to the national gross domestic product (GDP) will reach 20.7% in 2045.
“These data show us and reaffirm how strategic the Ministry of Communication and Information is for Indonesia’s development and progress,” Budi Arie said.
In the spirit of commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Arie invites all elements of the nation to move forward with optimism, welcoming a bright future full of potential.
“So there is no reason to be pessimistic, all must move forward in optimism, all must move forward to welcome the future of the nation with real sculptures,” Budi Arie said.
