Badminton News: The Indonesian women’s singles team was only represented by the 8th ranked player in the world, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, at the prestigious Japan Open World Tour Super 750 tournament, as Putri Kusuma Wardani failed to meet the ranking point requirements as only the top 32 players in the world could appear in the final.

Akane Yamaguchi, the top seed and home player, will start her Japan Open 2023 competition against India’s Aakarshi Kashyap, while second seed and winner of last week’s Korea Open An Se Young will face Germany’s Yvonne Li.

Gregoria Mariska will start the tournament against a Thai player, Pornpawee Chochuwong. If adopted, the 2023 Spain Masters champion will face the winner between fellow Taiwanese representatives Sung Shuo Yun and Pai Yu Po.
