Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a flight on the Tejas aircraft on Friday and expressed that the experience strengthened his belief in India’s indigenous capabilities.

Modi further added, “Successfully completed an operation on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly rewarding, greatly increased my confidence in our country’s Indigenous capabilities, and gave me a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential.”

According to ANI, Modi will also inspect and tour its manufacturing facility, including the Tejas jet facility.
The Indian Air Force recently floated a tender to purchase 12 modern Su-30MKI fighter jets from state-run HAL.
“Recently, a tender was floated to the HAL for the purchase of the 12 Su-30MKI fighters manufactured in India by the HAL in collaboration with the Russian OEMs,” defense sources had said ANI earlier.
“The public sector undertaking is expected to respond to the tender with details of the project and other details by next month,” they said.

DRDO boss Dr. Samir V. Kamat said on Saturday, “The engines for the LCA Mark 2 and the first two squadrons of the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will be manufactured domestically to provide a significant boost to India’s defense sector.”
“The engines of the LCA Mark 2 and the first two squadrons of the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft would be manufactured in the country jointly by American GE and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited as all approvals are in place from the US,” said DRDO chief Dr. Samir V Kamat told ANI.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and General Electric (GE) of the US will collaborate to manufacture these engines at a factory in India.
