2022 turned out to be a bad year for Team India as it suffered a lot of downturns this year. From losing to South Africa in a three-match Test series to losing to an ODI against Bangladesh, India has had a lot of dull moments. Despite a stellar start to the 2022 T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma-led India suffered a disappointing end after losing to England in the semifinals. The Indian players were heavily criticized for their poor performance in the knockout stage which led to their 10 wicket loss. Many fans and pundits have called out to the management on their decision to reserve Yuzvendra Chahal for the entire tournament.
However, India’s veteran goalkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik said such calls were taken because coaches and captains have faith in certain players.
“These are all calls that the captain and the coach have taken with the faith they have in certain players. To be fair, Ravichandran Ashwin started the tournament well but may not end well. But Chahal will definitely do more damage, it could be an interesting option. But looking back is a very interesting thing to watch once the results are out. said Karthik on Cricbuzz.
Ravichandran Ashwin had average performances in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He scalped 6 wickets and scored 21 runs in six matches.
England beat India by 10 wickets in the semifinals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Chasing 169, Alex Hales batted 86 off 47 balls and Jos Buttler hit an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls as England hit the target in just 16 overs.
Later, England won the World Cup title after defeating Pakistan in the top match.
Speaking of India, Hardik Pandya’s side will now face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, with the first leg at the Wankhede Stadium on January 3.
