Teo Ee Yi criticizes BAM for removing his name from the list of Indonesian masters 2023

Ligasports.com –

Badminton News: Teo Ee Yi, world number 8 in men’s doubles, posted on his social media last Friday asking why Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) omitted his name when registering for the Indonesia Masters 2023, which is a super 500 event scheduled to take place at Istora Senayan Jakarta Indonesia, from January 24 to 29, 2023.

In the list of participating players announced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Teo Ee Yi’s name does not appear next to his colleague, Ong Yew Sin. On the other hand, a player named Chee Yik Shen is made partner of Ong.

On Monday, BAM general secretary Kenny Goh explained that it was actually a mistake made by one of their staff. Goh also said that BAM had already held a meeting with Teo Ee Yi/Ong Yew Sin and they discussed the best solution.

“After conducting an internal investigation, it was clearly the fault of one of our staff. The staff member also admitted his mistake,” Goh said.

“We have already met with Ee Yi-Yew Sin to explain the real situation to them. Now we are starting discussions to find the best solution,” Goh added.

Goh said BAM appealed to the BWF about the matter, but the global body refused to allow any updates or changes regarding the 2023 Indonesia Masters entrants.

Indonesia Masters 2023 tournament is a series of successive tournaments to be held in January starting with Malaysia Open 2023 from January 10-15, India Open 2023 from January 17-22, continuing with Indonesia Masters and the Thailand Masters 2023 in January. February 31-5, 2023.
