Between the revised upwards image rights bonus and the donation paid by FIFA, the Blues each received a sum of 500,000 euros during the World Cup in Qatar, according to L’Equipe.
The World Cup ended in sadness for the Blues. Four years after his Russia crowning, the French side were beaten in the final by Argentina after a terrible twist and penalty shoot-out (3-3, 4 tab 2). But if that surely won’t lessen their disappointment, Didier Deschamps, his staff and players received huge bonuses during this World Cup in Qatar, thanks to the upwardly revised image rights and their careers.
image rights upgrade
According to information from L’Equipe, the image rights bonus has been increased to 30,000 euros per match, from 21,200 euros previously. The Blues thus received 210,000 in relation to their image rights thanks to their run to the final (7 matches), when they received “only” 148,4000 euros on the old scale. This increase has been negotiated by former president of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët and several players, including captain Hugo Lloris.
This amount is in addition to the 30% of the endowment paid by FIFA to FFF for their place as finalists, which is around 290,000 euros. In total, each member of the French team present in Qatar received nearly 500,000 euros. But they may not directly touch this premium. Because many players are used to not collecting the amount won in selection and donating it directly to charity.
