Mumbai: WhatsApp introduced the Flows feature at the global Conversations event on September 20 in Mumbai, India. In the future, Flows will make it easier for WhatsApp users to do business.
Meta Nikila Srinivasan, vice president of product management for business messaging, said Flows is very relevant for businesses. He therefore believes that the presence of Flows will have a positive impact, particularly in Indonesia.
“I think you might hear a little bit of context for how we’re thinking about the overall business message. Today I’m going to walk through some of the specific launch steps we’re doing.”
“Why am I so excited? Because I think it’s very relevant to business. So overall, I think it’s not news to you anymore. It’s because your country understands the power of chat or messaging platforms, such as Whatsapp,” said Nikla, met by Medcom .id at the JIO World Center, Mumbai, India.
“That’s what’s driving a lot of what we want to do with business messaging in the future, which is that most of the world is now starting to move into the business messaging world. It’s natural because many people use our messaging apps. Apps like WhatsApp alone have two billion people using it. It’s an extraordinary thing if you think about it,” he continued.
Nikila added that WhatsApp users who talk about business are very numerous. In Indonesia, Nikila said about 87 percent of WhatsApp users talk about business.
“Globally, more than 70% of people prefer to use messaging-based applications as a means of business communication rather than using other channels. What’s more interesting is that in Indonesia, up to 87% of people prefer to use messaging. messaging-based applications. For them, it is easier to use a messaging-based application if you want to communicate about business. So here we see that there is societal demand and preference as well as commercial appeal. So when we talk about business messaging, especially WhatsApp, what we want to do is create an app. “It’s becoming easier for business people and others to connect with each other,” Nikila said.
“Through this application, we want to make it easier for people to pay their electricity bills, buy plane tickets or get boarding tickets. Moreover, they can even buy clothes online through messaging apps. Meanwhile, for business people, “What we want to do is make it easier for them to use business messaging apps as a platform to grow their audience and reach more people. This way, it will produce valuable chat results, both for consumers and businessmen,” he said.
On this occasion, Nikila also answered several questions from Medcom.id. Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Over the past couple of years, it seems like WhatsApp has been focused on growing its messaging business. Can you tell us a little about WhatsApp’s business achievements?
In my opinion, we have managed to create two attractions with WhatsApp. First, we announced in July 200 million large small businesses, the vast majority of which are small businesses.
However, 200 million businesses use WhatsApp’s business platform to expand into business messaging. This is a powerful group and they want to show that they mean business on Whatsapp. This is something we want to continue to develop.
The second is that we have a click-through advertising business. This includes WhatsApp clicks, which are advertisements that may also be served by businesses on the Facebook and Instagram platforms that also display clicks to WhatsApp or clicks to send messages. After that, consumers can click on it to start a conversation with the company.
The company has grown very well thanks to this method. The advertising format is growing the business rapidly and today the average is $10 billion. Mark (Zuckenberg) also announced that he was included in the profits. So those are two things that I think are real business proofs that also show how far WhatsApp has come. However, what is clear is that I also realize that there is still much work to be done to serve these businesses in a more engaging way.
What do you think about the emergence of generative AI? How does WhatsAppp apply it in this business?
I’m very optimistic about this, because when you’re excited about this, you really think about the power that generative AI brings. With AI, the scale of this technology brings a lot of things to scale.
Next week, Mark (Zuckenberg) will share some of the cool things we’re doing on this topic. But what I can also tell you are a few use cases that I’m really interested in with their customer service.
Something like generative AI could really bring a lot of advancements and innovations to make it smoother. So we’re actively thinking about how to translate that into business mastery.
In fact, Mark often explains that business messaging is one of the most exciting ways to introduce AI to the world. So you should hear next week what launch we’re going to have.
What are the challenges in promoting WhatsApp business to the public?
I think the main thing we want to do for our business is give them access to all of our tools as quickly as possible and in as many ways as possible. So you see some of the launches we announced today have been successful, how can we achieve this?
I think the challenge is as big as the opportunity and what we want to continue to do faster and more is “how can we bring more functionality and richness to all the business applications that we have with a access to Small Business applications and APIs”.
So what’s more important is how do we continue to offer more features with more features and what opportunities do we have with that and being able to balance that. I think simplicity is what makes WhatsApp so great in bringing all these features to our businesses and customers.
