IHRAM.CO.ID, RIYADH — Legendary Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, leg spinner British cricketer Adil Rashid and former Indian actress Sana Khan have shared images of their emotional Hajj journey on social media.
Reported Arab NewsFriday (07/08/2022) Akhtar, one of the fastest bowlers in the world of cricket who dominated the opponent’s bat with his speed, said Saudi authorities had invited him to perform the honorary pilgrimage.
“Going on a pilgrimage of honor as a guest of the State of Saudi Arabia. I will also give a speech at the Hajj Conference attended by leaders of the Muslim world in Makkah,” he said, showing a photo of himself in ihram attire.
In tweet another, he posted a photo with the caption: “At the Grand Hajj Symposium 2022 representing Pakistan in the Holy Land of Makkah Mukarramah.” The Pakistani cricket star also thanked the Saudi Embassy in Islamabad for the honor.
In a series of tweets documenting his beautiful journey from Mecca to Medina. He shared videos of the two holy cities including the unique view of Kaaba from the top of Makkah Clock Tower, Haramain High Speed Railway Station in Makkah, Quba Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
Akhtar, who retired from international cricket after the 2011 World Cup, became popular for his aggressive attacking pace throughout his career. His fans call him the “Rawalpindi Express” because he bowled 100 miles per hour at least twice during his prime, making him the fastest bowler.
Cricketer Rashid, meanwhile, missed England’s draw with India to start the hajj. Rashid said earlier this year that he had reached the right time in his life to make the pilgrimage to Mecca.
He has been cleared by the England and Wales Cricket Board and his Yorkshire club to perform the Hajj and is expected to return in mid-July ahead of England’s game against South Africa. “I wanted to do it for a long time, but I found it quite difficult with the timing. This year I feel like it’s something I have to do and something I want to do too,” Rashid said..
