1. Taipei Open Badminton Championships HS Prannui beat Indonesian veteran Tommy Sugiarto 21-9, 21-17 to advance to the men’s singles quarterfinals.

2. The inaugural match of the World Chess League took place in Dubai, with a battle between the Triveni Continental Kings and upGrad Mumbai Masters.

3. India’s Special Olympics contingent of the 2023 World Games broke the 50 medal mark on Wednesday in Berlin. India has so far won 55 medals (15 gold, 27 silver and 13 bronze) in five different sports: athletics, cycling, swimming, weightlifting and rollerblading.

4. In the 2023 SAFF Championship, the Indian men’s football team beat rivals Pakistan 4-0 at Sri Kantiava Stadium, Bangalore. For India, captain Sunil Chhetri scored a hat-trick while Odanta Singh Komam scored the fourth in the 81st minute.

5. India’s 54-member squad for the Asian Athletics Championships has been announced. The team included long jumper Murali Srishankar, Asia record holder Tajinerpal Singh Tour and new decathlon champion Tejaswin Shankar. The team also included javelin thrower Annu Rani and sprinter Jyothi Yarraji, among others. The tournament will take place in Bangkok from July 12-16.

6. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, said that the IOC will support Ukrainian athletes who wish to participate in the Paris Olympics in 2024.
