Snapchat’s new AR filter to let users paint their nails

New Delhi: Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, has unveiled a new AR filter that will allow users to paint their fingernails virtually. The company has launched new AR nail segmentation technology in partnership with OPI, a flagship US-based pharmacy and nail salon, adding an AR filter featuring multiple OPI colors as part of the collaboration, according to Snapchat.

Users will find new filters in the Snapchat Lens Carousel section, which use augmented reality to apply different colors and other 2D designs to your nails.

“This lens features a one-of-a-kind Snap AR technology called Nails Segmentation, which makes the digital nail testing experience more realistic than ever. Glides on color easily, no nail polish remover needed “explains the company.

This feature allows Snapchatters to try out eight different nail polish colors.

Snapchat is also working with US skincare brand Supergoop on an AR trial lens that will allow users to apply four shades of Lipshade to decide which suits them best, without having to visit a store.

Meanwhile, Snapchat says it now has more than 200 million monthly active “Snapchatters” in India, one of the company’s key global growth markets.

Snap said it continues to invest in India through localized platform experiences, local content initiatives and partnerships, and a particular focus on regional content creators through Spotlights and Stories. .
