Elshinta.com – “Technological challenges are inevitable, the more young people come here, the more young people have skills capable but not resilient and gives up easily. This was confirmed by Prof. Dr. Rhenald Kasali, Ph.D. while motivating 7,500 students during the closing of the Introduction to New Student Studies (Pesmaba) Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) at DOME UMM.

Rhenald, his nickname, began by explaining the current situation in the world. The earth inhabited by humans is increasingly dense, even in November 2022 the number of humans will increase from 7.9 billion to 8 billion. China, previously the most populous country, will be overtaken by India.

“The technology hub will also move to India. Currently, they have their own satellites to launch rockets into Mars orbit to carry out missions. Why? Because with an increasing number of people, the temperature of the earth will rise and melt the snow, drowning many islands. So to accommodate the growing number of people, countries are carrying out two major projects, namely escape to the metaverse and escape to Mars,” he said. According to Rhenald, in the face of the increasingly advanced metaverse and artificial world, competent human resources are necessary. Especially those who master the fields of the future. Thus, he really appreciated the Center for Future of Work (CFW) program which was initiated and managed by UMM.

“A lot of people think they are limited to the present, but only a few see the future. And UMM is the one that is giving birth to a generation with the skills of the future,” he explained.

The author of the ‘Change’ book added that he also encourages students not to become a generation of poisonous strawberries.

“Ten words are sometimes a problem among young people. In my teens and twenties, I don’t think it’s time for financial freedom or passive income. Even with passion, this often becomes an obstacle. No need to be worried as you still have a long way to go. As long as you work hard and dare to take on challenges, I’m sure you will become a successful and prosperous human being in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. says that to build good human resources (HR), UMM always invites well-known personalities. On this occasion Pr. Rhenal Kasali, Ph.D was presented among the new students with determination and enthusiasm in the realization of future reflections. It is hoped that his arrival will bring benefits to the students of the White Campus.

“The thoughts and determination brought by Rhenal Kasali are the same as the mission developed by UMM. By building the Center for the Future of Work (CFW), UMM is trying to address human resource issues and challenges in the future. Hopefully what we are doing can bring enthusiasm and benefit to the nation,” he said.
