Shi Yuqi saves China from disaster

Shi Yuqi managed to save face for China in the final Indian Open by successfully winning the title in the men's singles event.

China is the country with the highest number of representatives in the final round of the Indian Open. There were four registered Chinese representatives in the supreme party, namely Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin, Chen Yufei, Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu, and Shi Yuqi. Meanwhile, the other six representatives in the final round came from six different countries.

However, all three Chinese representatives who competed lost in the final. Jiang/Wei lost to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai with a score of 16-21, 16-21.

Chen Yufei, who faced Tai Tzu Ying in the women's singles final, failed to finish well in this tournament. Chen Yufei lost with a score of 16-21, 12-21 to Tai Tzu Ying and set the match record 19-8 in favor of Tai Tzu Ying.

Zhang/Zheng, who competed in the women's doubles, also looked disappointing against Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara. Zhang/Zheng lost with a score of 12-21, 13-21.

After three defeats against Chinese representatives in the final round, Shi Yuqi participated in the men's singles event. He faced Lee Cheuk Yiu who performed brilliantly this week.

Shi Yuqi faced fierce resistance from Lee Cheuk Yiu in the first match. Shi Yuqi managed to win with a close score of 23-21. In the second match, Shi Yuqi trailed 14-16 but ended up winning 21-17.

Shi Yuqi's victory allowed China to avoid the disaster of losing the title despite having four representatives in the final round.

Another match is the men's doubles final. The hosts' hopefuls Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty had to swallow the bitter pill as they lost 21-15, 11-21, 18-21.
