Shesar Hiren Rhustavito replaces Kunlavut Vitidsarn at China Open 2023

Badminton News: New Thai world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn has withdrawn from VICTOR China Open 2023 and replaced by Indonesian Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, who will start Tuesday in Changzhou.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn, seeded No. 3, is expected to face India’s Priyanshu Rajawat. However, his place has now been replaced by Shesar Hiren Rhustavito who has been promoted from the reserve list.

Shesar Hiren, absent in recent tournaments, is ready to show his best game in Changzhou this week.

The VICTOR China Open 2023 is the final Super 1000 tournament on the HSBC BWF World Tour this year and features most of the other big names. This event this year offers a cash prize of $1.25 million, or about 18.7 billion rupees.

Matches on the first day featured World Women’s Doubles Champions Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan and World Mixed Doubles Champions Seo Seung Jae/Chae Yu Jung. Chen/Jia are expected to face representatives of India, Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela, while Seo/Chae will face representatives of Denmark, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje.

Other withdrawals

Another men’s singles player who withdrew was Kidambi Srikanth who was replaced by Misha Zilberman. The positions of players promoted in the draw are determined by draw.

The women’s singles saw the withdrawal of three big names, namely Michelle Li, Ratchanok Intanon and Pusarla Venkata Sindhu. They were replaced by Goh Jin Wei, Lauren Lam, and Lianne Tan.

In doubles, there were two withdrawals: Chloe Birch/Lauren Smith in women’s doubles and Mathias Thyrri/Amalie Magelund in mixed doubles. Their places in the draw were taken by Lauren Lam/Paula Lynn Cao Hok and Gregory Mairs/Jenny Mairs.
