TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian men’s singles badminton athlete Anthony Sinisuka Ginting managed to qualify for the semi-finals India Open 2023. He qualified for the last four after defeating the Chinese representative, Li Shi Feng, in a three-match duel on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Ginting won 21-11, 17-21 and 21-18 in a 65 minute bout. According to Ginting, the fight against Li Shi Feng was a tough and not an easy match. “I’m happy to win Li even if I have to fight deep rubber game“, Ginting said in a written statement after the game.
“I tried to beat Li. It’s good to be able to win and apply the pattern of play as planned. Earlier in the first game, I was able to get points easily. I was able to overcome the obstacles on the pitch,” added Ginting. .
Going into game two, Ginting admitted his game was monotonous. According to him, the opponent learned from the defeat in the first game by changing their strategy. “Unfortunately I stay with the same game pattern, it’s always monotonous. I try to change my strategy but I’m not even calm,” he said.
“In the third game, I reapplied the strategy of the first game. I can be calmer, there are also many variants of attacks. Moreover, I only reduce my own mistakes,” added Ginting.
In the Indian Open 2023 semi-finals, Ginting faced the winner of the match between Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand and Loh Kean Yew of Singapore. Until this news broke, both players were still playing.
“In the semi-finals tomorrow I still have tasks that are no less important. I have to be able to always concentrate because the match will be more difficult. I hope my performance will be better. I will study how is the opponent through video recordings and discussions with the coach,” said Anthony Ginting.
