Badminton News: There is good news for Indian badminton fans where Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will be back on court shortly after fully recovering from injury.
Doubles specialist Satwiksairaj will play in the All England Championships in Birmingham from March 14-19.
Satwik, 22, has been out for over a month after sustaining an injury at the Indian Open in New Delhi on January 19. Defending champions Satwik and Chirag Shetty had to withdraw from the India Open Super 750 after the former removed his left hip adductor.
The pair of Indian stars are set to face China’s Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi in the second round.
As Satwik recovers from injury, Chirag had to play with new partner Dhruv Kapila at the Asian Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Dubai last month, where India narrowly lost 2-3 to China in the semis. -final.
World number 6 Satwik and Chirag Shetty won an impressive England Championship last year where they became the first Indian men’s doubles combination to reach the semi-finals.
“Satwik is now fully recovered from his injury. He had already resumed his practice ten days ago. He trained hard under Indian doubles specialist Mathias Boe in Hyderabad,” Satwik’s father Kasi Vishwanath said on Friday.
Satwik and Chirag also missed the Thailand Open after the 2023 Indian Open and slipped to No. 6 in the world.
“Satwik was a little upset when he injured himself in front of his home crowd in Delhi as he wanted to repeat last year’s winning show at the Indian Open. He then underwent rehabilitation in Hyderabad and is now ready for the busy season ahead. After reaching the semi-finals of All England 2022, he wants to do even better this year.”
Satwik and Chirag fulfilled a dream in 2022 where they led India to their first Thomas Cup victory in addition to winning two World Tour titles and winning gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
