Badminton News: India’s duo of men’s doubles stars Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won the country’s third gold medal in badminton with a back-to-back win over England’s Ben Lane and Sean Mendy at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Day 11 of the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022) saw Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat England’s Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in straight sets (21-15 and 21-13) to win the gold medal history of men’s doubles at the Commonwealth Championships. . .
Torque No. 7 The world stepped up their silver medal bid at the 2018 Gold Coast Games to win gold in Birmingham. With this feat, Satwik and Chirag became the first Indian pair to win a gold medal in the men’s doubles category in Commonwealth Games history.
Gold in Birmingham is redemption as four years ago the Indian Open 2022 champion had to settle for silver when in the final they lost to the British pair, Marcus Elli/Chris Langridge.
India ended a fantastic badminton competition with three gold medals, one silver and two bronze. The Satwik-Chirag pair follow Olympic double PV medalist Sindhu and England runner-up Lakshya Sen, who also won the yellow metal that day.
Silver was won in the team championships and bronze medals went to Kidambi Srikanth in men’s singles and Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in women’s doubles.
