Badminton News: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, India’s top men’s doubles and 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalists, achieved the career-best position of world No. 4 on Tuesday in the latest release from the Badminton World Federation ( BWF).
The duo earned a spot to reach a new career high in the men’s doubles sector and add to the increasingly exciting rivalry.
The Satwik/Chirag pair, who won Commonwealth Games gold and the French Open Super 750 crown last year and won the Swiss Open Super 300 this season, are now 74 651 points in 12 tournaments played.
Satwik/Chirag could have gone even higher had they taken part in the Malaysia Masters World Tour Super 500 tournament last week at the Axuata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
Still fresh for his maiden BWF World Tour title at the Malaysia Masters last week, Indian senior HS Prannoy moved up a place to reclaim world No. 8, while former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth moved up three places to regain his place in the top 20. He is ranked 20th in the world.
Lakshya Sen, however, slipped to world number one. 23rd in the world after an early exit at the Malaysia Masters last week.
In women’s singles, Olympic medalist in women’s doubles PV Sindhu remains in 13th place in the world, while Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also remain in 15th place in the world in women’s doubles.
