Not only in technology, India shows innovation and know-how. At first glance, Sahyadri Farms impresses with its modern building and neat alleys lined with flower beds. The company located at Nashik, in the state of Maharashtra, stands out in India’s highly fragmented agriculture, dominated by small and inefficient farms. However, like many emerging and developing countries, agriculture is vital to the economy and jobs.
It employs 43% of the legally active population, or 130 million registered farmers. In this vast country, the world’s leading producer of milk, wheat and tea, Sahyadri Farms is the leading agricultural producer in India, in terms of number of farmers and sales volume of fresh fruit.
