Starring Sivakarthikeyan as the headliner, the romantic comedy Tamil Prince hits theaters on Friday, October 21 as part of a festive release. The film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, with half calling the film a complete artist and the other half saying it fell short of their expectations.
This romantic comedy follows the hilarious drama that unfolds when a teacher character from Sivakarthikeyan falls in love with an English teacher, tempted by Maria Riaboshapka, while working together at the same school. The whole village faces the main hero of the film and the latter wins them over in a chaotic and hilarious situation.
According to entertainment tracking website Sacnilk.com, Prince has a decent opening across India as the film garnered Rs 5 crore on its first day. The report also stated that the film had an overall occupancy rate of 29.85% in theaters, with maximums being in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
Director Anudeep KV also clashed with the spy thriller starring Karthi Sardar, which also had an estimated earnings of Rs 3.7 crore on its opening day, according to the same portal. Actor Ponniyin Selvan played a double role in the PS Mithran-directed film, which received better reviews than Prince.

Anudeep KV rose to fame after his Telugu comedy-drama Jathi Ratnalu starring Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna became a smash hit last year. Made on a meager budget of around Rs 4 crore, the film became a huge hit, earning Rs 70 crore at the worldwide box office.
Prince is Sivakarthikeyan’s second theatrical release this year following the release of the adult comedy drama Don in May. Directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi in his directorial debut, the film was a huge success as it reportedly crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office.
